Continuous monitors are constantly observing salinity and temperature (and many more parameters!) at several depths in the Gulf of Maine. Go to http://www.gomoos.org/data/recent.html and click on any red buoy in the gulf. Data about current conditions at the surface will appear on the right hand side of the screen. Go deeper below the surface by clicking on “All Data From This Station” and find the water temperature and salinity at 1m and at 50m. Enter this data into the boxes provided and click on the "Check It!" button to see if the water column is currently stratified.
